Willian has reached an agreement with the Corinthians to join the Brazilian side, according to Fabrizio Romano, where Arsenal are willing to let him leave for free, although there are still two years left on his contract.
Realizing that his time at the Emirates has not been a success, the 33-year-old winger has reportedly decided not to leave out the remainder of the deal, which has earned him £ 240,000 a week. He has accepted a 70% pay cut instead of securing a return to his country, and his departure is expected to allow Arsenal to save around £ 20m through a significant reduction in their payroll.
After arriving from Chelsea as a free agent last year, Willian made a total of 37 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, in what turns out to be his only season at the Emirates. He only managed to score one goal for the club and produce seven assists.
With Chelsea, Willian won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup.
