According to The daily logThe move proposed by Rangers midfielder Jamie Barjonas to the USL in Orange County is hanging by a thread.

Which is the word?

When it comes to the players that have emerged from the Rangers academy in recent years, there are a handful of names that will spring to mind immediately.

Billy Gilmour is one, Kai Kennedy is definitely another, although his football has been somewhat limited with Steven Gerrard, but it can’t be worse than Barjonas’s.

The midfielder has made nine appearances for his childhood club, but unfortunately he hasn’t played a single game for the Gers this season on his way to the Scottish Premiership title and that inactivity has cast doubt on his future at Ibrox.

According to The daily logThe 22-year-old is set to leave his childhood club on loan in search of regular playing time, amid interest from various Scottish Championship clubs.

Get rid of him

Unfortunately for Barjonas, however, it seems his hopes have been dashed, as talks between the Rangers and American club Orange County have reportedly stuck for a possible move.

The former Scotland U-19 international made it to the ranks of the 54-time Scottish champions, but has failed to make the first team at Ibrox and embarked on a series of loan spells including time at Bury, Raith Rovers, and Partick Thistle.

Barjonas has seen players like Bongani Zungu, Steven Davis and Ryan Jack get ahead of him, while he couldn’t even earn a spot on the bench when the Rangers traveled to face Falkirk in the Betfred Cup. Instead, youngsters Ciaran Dickson and Leon King were named to the bench.

How much did Rangers pay to sign Tore Andre Flo from Chelsea?

Considering he’s 22 now, it’s hard to believe he’s still on his books when his last club appearance came. 2019.

If Ross Wilson can’t find a solution in the meantime, maybe it’s best to send him back to the reserves.

The Gers have already secured the signing of Nnamdi Ofoborh and must now start thinking about cleaning up the dead wood. It sounds incredibly harsh, but they can also start with Barjonas. It’s just not good enough for the Gers and Gerrard clearly has no intention of using it anytime soon.

And in other Rangers news, Ross Wilson must prioritize giving Glen Kamara a new contract …
