West Ham’s lineup that should start against Everton

Winless in their last four games, West Ham will bring in the new year with a trip to high-flying Everton.

The Hammers fell to a 0-0 draw with Southampton in their final game of 2020, and a lack of creativity in attack appears to once again prevail as their undoing. However, David Moyes’ team is by no means in the worst possible position and could even the points with up to five teams ahead with a win this weekend.

Here’s how they could line up on New Years Day.

Lukasz Fabianski (GK) – West Ham’s number one continues to operate at a high level and will no doubt start this one.

Vladimir Coufal (RB) – Coufal has quickly established himself as a key player in West Ham’s starting eleven in recent weeks. A solid defensive player, he has also contributed two assists in the Premier League so far.

Craig Dawson (CB) – Despite virtually knocking Che Adams’ head off his body, Dawson was solid against Southampton and deserves to start over. However, this time just focus on the ball. Please.

Angelo Ogbonna (CB) – The Italian has seriously improved this season for the Irons and deserves credit for his consistently dominant displays at the rear.

Aaron Cresswell (LB) – Similarly, Cresswell has looked back to his best this season for the Irons. Left or left side of a three back, does a job.

Declan Rice (DM) – West Ham must do everything it can to keep Declan Rice a little longer. Now adding technical skill to his game, Rice is key to his team’s luck this season.

Tomas Soucek (DM) – Soucek will sit next to Rice against the Toffees. The midfielder is a tireless runner from box to box and has the ability to score a goal when necessary.

Jarrod Bowen (RM) – He fought to make an impact in a strike partnership alongside Sebastien Haller against Brighton, but offers a solid threat from open positions. Bowen could cause problems for Everton.

Manuel Lanzini (AM) – For whatever reason, David Moyes is in no rush to get Said Benrahma into his starting eleven. For now, Lanzini will probably start.

Pablo Fornals (LM) – Fornals adds a Lanzini-like flair down the left for the Hammers and has contributed two goals and two assists in the league so far.

Sebastien Haller (ST) – Michail Antonio made a late comeback against Southampton and while it would likely add momentum to West Ham’s attack, Moyes has been cautious regarding his recovery from injury.
