Tomas Soucek’s West Ham career is in doubt after a breakup in the relationship, thanks to David Moyes’ reported interference in contract discussions.
Soucek has been one of West Ham’s most important assets since joining the club. In his first full season as a hammer, the midfielder scored 10 goals.
He has followed suit during this period and scored six times so far. Included in this total was a goal in the West Ham Europa League’s round of 16 against Sevilla.
The strike helped West ham to advance in the competition. They have since reached the semifinals, and look very good.
As such, it seems that Soucek remains an important cog in the Hammers side. In fact, it was revealed in January that the club was initiates conversations with him over a new agreement.
However, a fresh report from 90 min details how Moyes put these conversations on ice. The report states that discussions should be reopened at the end of the current campaign.
However, it also states that the reason the negotiations were shelved was that Moyes did not feel that Soucek deserved new terms.
It obviously throws Soucek’s future in the air.
The Czech midfielder is obviously not so happy about the reasons why the negotiations have been put on hold.
Feeling a little undermined by his manager’s reported views, he could try to force himself out.
Soucek might move on from Hammers
There is a chance that this development will lead to Soucek not signing a new agreement at all. He is under contract until 2024, and could simply let it tick down.
There is also the possibility that West Ham can sell the midfielder. The report says there has been interest in Soucek, with ‘at least two’ Premier League clubs considering moving.
Given his impressive performances in the English top class, it is not much of a surprise.
In fact, if he does not want to sign a new deal with West Ham, a switch to another Premier League team may well be on the cards for him.
