West Ham United captain Declan Rice has explained why he had to kick out the Hammers against Jesse Lingard during their Premier League clash against Sheffield United on Monday.
The Hammers received a penalty in the first half after defender Chris Basham savagely stopped Lingard’s run into the Blades’ area.
During the preparation for the penalty shot, Rice and Lingard were seen arguing over which player should be to execute the kick.
Rice appeared to move up the ranks and soon drilled the ball past goalie Aaron Ramsdale.
Speaking after the 3-0 game against David Moyes’s men, the Hammers captain has revealed why he was on penalty shoot-outs.
“I don’t want to get hit by the Gaffer if I don’t take it!” ?
