Leicester City are the best in the league and Chelsea manager Frank Lampard might you will soon be out of work.

Those were the headlines for the Foxes’ 2-0 win at King Power Stadium on Tuesday night, in what could be one of the momentous results in recent Premier League history.

Things got off to an incredible start when Wilfred Ndidi scored in six minutes. His goal was … pretty weird, to be honest.

As a result of a botched but clever corner routine, Ndidi threw a left peg at the ball, following an effort from Harvey Barnes, and it flew past Edouard Mendy, cutting the post on entering.

For those Foxes fans who have seen the Nigerian shoot long shots with little success over the years, the goal was a very welcome surprise.

James Maddison then rang the crossbar, while Marc Albrighton stung Mendy’s palms with a fierce long shot soon after.

However, the next real talking point came when Chelsea received a penalty.

Except no, they weren’t. VAR made sure of that, much to the chagrin of Blues fans everywhere. Jonny Evans was initially judged to have knocked down Christian Pulisic in the box, but on reviewing the challenge it actually took place right outside.

A few minutes later, that particular decision would hurt even more, with Leicester doubling their lead through Maddison.

It didn’t take long for the ‘LAMPARD OUT’ screaming to start after that …

After the break, Leicester’s dominance continued. At the hour mark, James Justin had nodded with a free header off the back post, Marc Albrighton had had one ruled for offside and Youri Tielemans was denied by Mendy’s legs.

Despite being on the rise, Foxes fans weren’t comfortable with his two-goal cushion and were pushing his side to end the game.

In reality, they never seemed to give up their leadership.

Around the 65-minute mark, both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Kai Havertz withdrew for contributing too little.

The critics of their performances were not good …

Did Chelsea substitutes help change the game? We think you already know the answer to that.

In the end, the game was sold out, a bit like Lampard’s managerial career perhaps?
