Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce sees big things for former Miami Dolphins teammate Tyreek Hill.

The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for another season in which they hope to make it to the Super Bowl. But their offense will look different entering the 2022 season, as their offense will be without wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who was traded to the Miami Dolphins this offseason.

In the debut episode of the “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce” podcast, the Chiefs tight end said fans will see how good Hill will be as a member of the Dolphins.

“He’s the real deal. Listen, best receiver in the league, I’ve been saying that for the last four or five years,” Kelce said. “He never got full respect for how good of a wide receiver he was. And I think it was because of how our offense was one of the best in the league, Pat was one of the best in the league, and I was high on the tight end. And it was just, oh that we were a tandem, that’s why we were so good. I think we’re seeing this year exactly how good Tyreek is and how good this offense can be without a big playmaker like that.”

Hill began his career with the Chiefs in 2016 and his first breakout season came in 2017 when he logged 1,183 yards and seven touchdowns on 75 receptions with Alex Smith throwing him the ball.

Clearly, the Chiefs offense’s attention was focused on Hill, Kelce and starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Now, Hill is out of the equation for Kansas City entering the 2022 season.

After contract negotiations fell through, the Chiefs explored trading Hill to a new team. The Dolphins were able to secure him in exchange for five draft picks, including a 2022 first-round pick. After that, Hill signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension with Miami.

Now Hill joins an offense that will be led by new head coach Mike McDaniel, who was the former offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers in 2020 and 2021. Hill’s quarterback is Tua Tagovailoa, who has struggled to break out with fellow draftees Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert, despite his success at Alabama. This offseason, Hill has hyped up Tagovailoa on numerous occasions, sometimes at the expense of Mahomes.

It will be interesting to see how Hill will fare in his debut season with the Dolphins. But Kelce sees big things from Hill.
