Gareth Bale has already made a deal to return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to a report describing why the move has had to wait.
Bale is in the last six months of his contract with Real Madrid, where he remains an unpopular figure. His current club will count the days down until they can release him and his high salaries.
Madrid have been hoping to relieve Bale for some time after his fall in fortunes in recent years. They allowed him to spend last season back on loan at Tottenham, from which they had signed him in 2013.
However, there was no permanent relocation after the loan period. Bale has been back in Spain ever since. Reunited with Carlo Ancelotti, he played three appearances in August before a series of injury problems since.
However, it may not be long before Bale is back at Tottenham. According to The Nationalhe has had a deal in place with Spurs for a few months.
He chose not to make a transfer in January so he can earn his full salary from what is left of his Madrid contract. Furthermore, by signing up for his next club as a free agent, he can take a significant sign-up fee.
But Tottenham could become his next players again, ready to make such an investment.
He was not part of their new boss Nuno Espirito Santos’ plans this summer. But now that Nuno has been replaced by Antonio Conte, he’s back on their agenda.
At the age of 32, Bale was able to get one last swan song in the Spurs jersey, he has worn 237 times before.
The National add that it is unlikely he will play for Madrid again before his contract expires.
Tottenham, if they were to buy him, would therefore hope he can regain his fighting acumen when the new season comes.
The National has previously reported that another of Bale’s former clubs, Southampton would also like to buy him. But Tottenham are likely to become a more attractive destination.
And Bale could have already made up his mind. With the prospect of retirement ruled out by the report, rejoining Tottenham could be Bale’s most likely solution.

Gareth Bale in even more Madrid controversy
Bale was back in the spotlight in Madrid last week due to an incident from the substitutes bench.
Gareth Bale was seen laughing by Eden Hazard on Thursday after his teammate was told to sit down after warming up from the bench.
Both players were forced to watch from the bench as Real were beaten 1-0 by Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals. Alejandro Berenguer scored the winner just a minute after time with both Bale and Hazard on the bench.
Bale and Hazard had spent the last 180 minutes on the bench together without getting minutes.
The Belgian striker got a runout in the 2-2 match against Elche at the end of January. But he was back on the bench against the Athletic Club.
During the game, Hazard was instructed to warm up. But after he finished, Ancelotti asked him to sit back. It shattered the 31-year-old’s hopes of moving on. Bale was caught laughing at the situation.
The former Spurs star certainly looked up at Hazard before laughing. Whether Hazard saw the funny side is unclear, but Bale has certainly not lost his humor.
However, it will not be exhibited in Spain for much longer. Now a return to the Premier League will be in focus for a few months.
