Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been loaned to Villarreal from Tottenham until the end of the season, when the yellow submarine has an option to buy.

The 25-year-old has struggled for playing time in the 2021-22 campaign after making just nine appearances in the Premier League and only three substitutions in the league since the appointment of manager Antonio Conte.

With the arrival of Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus on deadline day, adding even more competition for places, Lo Celso will spend the rest of the season in Spain trying to rediscover the form in which Spurs spent big money on picking him up. to the club from Real Betis in 2019.

Lo Celso has scored eight goals in 86 games for Spurs and was part of the Argentine squad that won last year’s Copa America.

Villarreal are in seventh place in LaLiga and travel to Lo Celso’s former club Betis on Sunday.
