Arsenal learned how soon they will have to bid for Dominik Szoboszlai after Tottenham’s interest in the player was confirmed.

Szoboszlai is one of the most promising young players outside of Europe’s biggest leagues. The Hungary international has established himself as an integral part of the RB Salzburg team that has dominated Austria’s top flight in recent years.

Salzburg have won the league in every season since Szoboszlai joined them in January 2018. However, they know they may not be able to enjoy their talents for much longer.

Several clubs are interested in giving Szoboszlai a bigger platform to prove his worth soon. For example, he has been closely linked to a signing by Arsenal.

Arsenal are eager to add more creativity to their squad after failing to sign Houssem Aouar from Lyon this summer. A January deal for the French seems unlikely, so they have turned their attention to Szoboszlai.

However, they are not alone in their interest. Recent reports have suggested that Tottenham’s rivals may also attack Szoboszlai, and David Ornstein has now confirmed those links.

Writing for Athletic, Ornstein confirms that Tottenham is among Szoboszlai’s six contenders. Arsenal remain another suitor, with European giants Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid and AC Milan also interested.

But nevertheless, the pioneers today are RB Leipzig – Salzburg sister club. The German team has provided a clear path for Salzburg’s best players to develop in recent years, and Ornstein claims they are leading the pursuit group for Szoboszlai.

Details of the release clause emerge

The report adds that Szoboszlai’s release clause is not paid in installments, as previously believed. Therefore, any interested party will have to pay £ 22.6 million in full within two weeks of activation of the exit clause.

Also, those clubs will have to work until a deadline. To leave in January, Szoboszlai must inform Salzburg of his plans before December 15.

After that, clubs have a window until December 31 to bid, although the transfer window won’t be open until January.

If you don’t move in January, there is a similar arrangement for the summer. You will have to notify them of your plans to leave before June 30 before Salzburg waits for the offers until July 15.

However, Szoboszlai is more likely to move in the middle of the current season. Therefore, Arsenal and Tottenham will have to work fast to get their man.
