Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has said on The last word on the Spurs YouTube channel that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Jordan Pickford from Premier League rivals Everton. The Toffees are reportedly open to selling English national team goalkeeper Pickford, and Tottenham are interested in the 27-year-old.
Thomas said: “They like the idea of having an English goalkeeper and there are plenty of them around. It’s clear Pickford is England’s number one.
“Everton have been looking at trying to get some money back from selling players and they have been looking at their best-selling assets.
“We are absolutely certain that Lucas Digne is the one they are most open to selling, but Pickford’s name has also been mentioned and Tottenham would be stupid not to look at it, especially if Hugo is to leave.”
Hugo Lloris is the number one goalkeeper at Tottenham, but the French national team player is without a contract at the North London club at the end of the season. While talks between Lloris and Spurs over a new deal have begun, it should be remembered that the former Lyon star is 35 now.
Pickford has been on Everton’s books since 2017 and has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Merseyside club.
