Tottenham have reportedly become the “big favorites” to sign Luka Modric from Real Madrid after more details emerged of their possible offer to the midfielder.

Modric has proven to be one of the best players in the world since leaving Tottenham for Madrid in 2012. He has won 16 trophies with the Spanish giants and won the Ballon d’Or in 2018.

Now 35, he remains at the top of his game. However, there are doubts about his future at Madrid.

His contract at the Bernabéu expires at the end of this season. So far, there has been little progress on the renovation. So you can talk to other clubs starting in January.

Reports surfaced last week suggesting Modric could complete a sensational return to Tottenham.. José Mourinho managed to get Gareth Bale back from Madrid in the summer, and Modric was able to do the same.

There were suggestions that Mourinho, who was in charge of Real when he signed Modric, had already contacted the playmaker.

Now, Todofichajes they have taken those claims further. The Spanish website explains that Mourinho is “determined” to meet with Modric.

Mourinho is said to want Tottenham to offer Modric a two-year contract, with salaries similar to what he currently earns in Madrid.

Modric remembers Tottenham with affection

Modric, for his part, was “very happy” at Spurs before and apparently “would not rule out” returning to the English capital.

However, the Croatian is willing to sign again with Madrid if he is offered a one-year extension. However, if that doesn’t happen, Tottenham could be a candidate for his signature.

The fact that they are willing to offer a contract twice as long as Madrid could put on the table may leave Modric with an interesting decision.

Modric previously made 159 appearances for Tottenham in a four-year span, scoring 17 goals.
