For his return to training with PSG, Kylian Mbappé arrived with a pair of masked crampons. Already the new Mercurial?
For several weeks, many players have appeared in masked shoes. Whether it is for a change of equipment supplier or simply to test new products, the fact is that there are many players in this case. In recent days alone, we can evoke Robert Lewandowski, Anthony Martial, Franck Ribéry or even Paul Pogba and Paulo Dybala. But when players like Neymar or Kylian Mbappé wear all-black shoes, it’s necessarily different since these players are scrutinized up and down and every minute. Like Neymar a few days ago, it was Kylian Mbappé who appeared with full black crampons for his return to training with PSG.

Mbappé in full test of the new Mercurial?
In the continuity of what we had seen at the feet of Ivan Perisic from last September then in those of many other players since, Kylian Mbappé also seems to be in full test of the next Nike Mercurial which could land at the beginning of next year. However, despite the many players who test this pair and the photos that emerge from training, it’s difficult to know much more about this pair and the evolutions it will offer. As we know, Nike implements a strategy of changing studs every two years. The Mercurial range, having experienced its last major innovation in 2018, should enter a new era in the coming weeks. Last February, Nike notably presented what would seem to be the future of the range, the Air Zoom Mercurial.
Including in particular an Air Zoom airbag which extends over the entire length of the foot and which aims to offer a unique sensation and an optimized return of energy, the Air Zoom Mercurial would also have the particularity of integrating a vamp in 3D printed textile, the Flyprint. Major innovations for the American brand and therefore for the Mercurial range as a whole but for all that, it is difficult to know if all these technologies presented by Nike will already be visible on the future evolution of the pair. While the tests have started for several weeks now, the fact that the model is now at the feet of Kylian Mbappé allows to go up a notch in terms of the importance of the feedback. Indeed, like Cristiano Ronaldo who could perfectly land in the coming hours with this same masked model, Kylian Mbappé literally embodies the Mercurial range and his feedback will obviously be precious and important to fine-tune the final adjustments. If we do not yet know when this pair will be able to see the light of day, it is undeniable to say that it will be one of the curiosities of the year 2021!
