Ryan Clark says it should be over for Ben Roethlisberger as quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
While he definitely thanks him for helping him get a Super Bowl ring, Ryan Clark is out on Ben Roethlisberger as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback.
As long as Roethlisberger gave the Steelers’ offense the best chance of winning, Clark had to drive with his guy. But now that Pittsburgh is on the brink of its first losing season under Mike Tomlin, Clark feels no choice but to say the Steelers need to move under center. It’s not Mason Rudolph, it’s not Dwayne Haskins, and it does not appear to be Big Ben either.
Here’s what Clark said about his former Steelers teammate in Friday’s edition of Come up!
Ryan Clark says it’s over for Ben Roethlisberger as the Steelers start QB
With arch-rival Baltimore Ravens coming to town, Pittsburgh will almost certainly fall to 5-6-1 on the season. The Steelers have not only been trampled down by the forward-rushing Cincinnati Bengals in the division, but have also tied the undefeated Detroit Lions … at home! Winning football teams with a proud history does not. It only means the Steelers need to make a change at quarterback.
While Kenny Pickett can really sling it for Pitt, it can be a reach for any team that drafts him to take him in the top 10. While drafting him might correct the mistakes by passing Dan Marino back in 1983, the Steelers must accept that their quarterback position is in a tough spot. General manager Kevin Colbert must understand that this must be Roethlisberger’s last year with the franchise.
It’s so hard to see a legend on his final stage, but that’s what has unfolded with Roethlisberger.
