The Pittsburgh Steelers have already interviewed two internal candidates to replace Kevin Colbert when he retires as general manager after the 2022 NFL Draft: Omar Khan and Brandon Hunt.
Pittsburgh Steelers front office executives Omar Khan and Brandon Hunt have already been interviewed for the position of general manager that opens up when Kevin Colbert retires after the 2022 NFL Draft.
Colbert has been with the Steelers since 2000. The former director of professional scouting and director of football operations became the team’s general manager in 2010, taking on a vice presidential role in the organization from 2016. With him retiring after this spring’s draft, Pittsburgh may take a side out of a division rivals playbook and replace from with after a final offseason.
The Baltimore Ravens famously went from Ozzie Newsome to Eric DeCosta, where Newsome traded up to get Lamar Jackson out of Louisville with the final pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Could either Khan or Hunt be Colbert’s long-term successor in Pittsburgh?

Khan has worked for the Steelers for almost as long as Colbert. He has been with the Steelers since 2001 after being with the New Orleans Saints four years before. Khan is vice president of football and business administration, a role he has held since 2016. He has been on the football industry side of things since graduating from Tulane University in his home state of New Orleans in 1997.
Hunt is the Steelers’ pro-scouting coordinator. He is a Pittsburgh resident. Although both candidates have deep Pittsburgh roots professionally, it serves Rooneys to interview other candidates outside the organization to see if they miss anything in the process. Whoever replaces Colbert as Steelers general manager will have been scrutinized for it.
The best available general manager in this offseason cycle will only open later in the spring.
