Getafe president Ángel Torres has confirmed the club’s interest in Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena and Real Madrid winger Takefusa Kubo.
The Spanish team have been linked to a move by 22-year-old Alena for weeks amid their struggle to secure a regular spot in Ronald Koeman’s starting eleven, having returned to Camp Nou in the summer after spending the second half. last season on loan to Real Betis.
Alena has played for the Blaugrana five times in the current campaign, starting just one of those games: the 4-0 win against Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League in November.
Meanwhile, Kubo was loaned to Villarreal in October for the duration of the season and, despite making 19 appearances in all competitions, he has only started seven games, two in La Liga.
In Spain it has been reported that the 19-year-old is likely to leave the Yellow Submarine next month to allow him to try his luck at other top-flight venues and Getafe have been singled out as potential suitors.
Torres has confirmed that his team, which is ranked 13th in the table and only two points above the relegation zone, is interested in bringing either player to the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum in January, but admits that the financial situation the club could make it difficult.
“Kubo wants to come,” he said in Zero Wave program El Transistor. “Yes, the other reinforcement may be Alena. But we are not going to go crazy.”
La Liga president Javier Tebas announced this month that fans could return to stadiums in Spain starting next month, but appeared to turn his back on those comments weeks later after a meeting with the government’s sports minister, Irene Lozano, saying it would be “irresponsible.” to rush the followers.
But Torres is hopeful that the public can re-enter the soccer fields in Spain once again, adding: “I hope the January 15 meeting will approve the return of the people to the stadiums.”
Getafe will visit La Liga leaders Atlético de Madrid on Wednesday in their final game of 2020 and then kick off the new year with a home game against Real Valladolid on Saturday.
