The midfield revolution is underway as Everton decide to make Ancelotti favorite Allan a summer victim

Everton have decided to put Allan up for sale this summer as they prepare for a midfield development ahead of the 2022-23 season, a report has revealed.

Allan has been an Everton player since 2020, when Carlo Ancelotti picked him up from Naples. He played 26 games under the Italian tactician after their meeting in his debut season. It ended with Everton finishing 10th in the Premier League.

However, things have been much harder for the club in the post-Ancelotti era during this period. Their poor form led to the dismissal of Rafael Benitez after just over half a year at the helm. Now it’s up to Frank Lampard to relive their fortunes.

Back on the deadline in January, Lampard made two signings at his former midfield position. He helped bring Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek to the club.

Despite the changes, Everton is still in danger of relegation. Following a defeat to West Ham on Sunday, Lampard’s team hovers a spot above the drop zone with 10 games left.

At the end of the season, no matter what division they are in, Everton will have to make changes to their squad. It has been predicted that there will be further development in their midfield.

Within that, Allan could be told to find a new club, as reported by The sun.

The 31-year-old is entering the final year of his contract this summer. Having cost them more than £ 20 million, it would be a blow for Everton to lose him for free in 2023.

But they will not make any plans to renew his deal after a disappointing season.

Allan and Alli in danger for Everton

This time, Allan has matched last season’s figures of 26 appearances, even though he was not involved against West Ham. He also has three assists, compared to no last year. But his total influence has not been great enough to convince.

As Everton seek to cut costs, Allan could therefore be sacrificed. Even the winter signing Alli may also be in danger, the report adds (as TEAMtalk previously revealed in an exclusive).

No suitors are mentioned for any of the couple. However, Allan was recently tipped to return to Serie A in a potential reunion with Maurizio Sarri in Lazio.

It would be an interesting route for international Brazil to consider. How much Everton can win on the transfer – or even hope for – remains to be seen.

Their plans become clearer once their Premier League status – or not – is decided.
