In a rather surprising move, Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores fired Monday morning, ending his tenure with the team after three seasons.
It was apparently not that long ago that the stars were in line in Miami as future candidates in the NFL.
The Dolphins had a war chest of future assets to build a winning foundation with and seemed to have a solid coach leading the charge in Brian Flores. After three seasons without playoffs, however, things have changed.
Specifically, Flores’ employment status has changed.
On Monday, the Miami Dolphins added the scrap heap of fired head coaches by parting ways with Flores. The move comes as something of a surprise and has apparently reinforced the idea that dolphins have no idea what they are doing.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross announced Monday morning why the decision was made to fire Flores after Sunday’s victory.
“I made the decision today to get rid of Brian Flores,” Ross said wrote. “After evaluating where we are as an organization and what we need to improve in the future, I found that the key dynamics of our football organization did not work at the level I want it to be, and I felt that this decision was in the best interest of the Miami Dolphins.I believe we have a talented young roster in place and have the opportunity to get much better in 2022. I would like to thank Brian for his hard work and wish him nothing but that best in his future. “
The firing comes after yet another losing season, but on the heels of the Dolphins beating the Patriots to end their season. New England would not have won the AFC East thanks to a Buffalo Bills victory on Sunday, but the Dolphins twisted the knife by not allowing the Patriots – or Flore’s old mentor Bill Belichick – the satisfaction of ending the season with a victory.
