Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has sent a clear message to his teammates about the race for the Premier League title this season.
The Serbian international says the Red Devils deserve to be three points clear at the top after their victory at Burnley last night, which comes just days before they face last season’s champions Liverpool at Anfield, the Weekend.
Still, even though Matic insisted that United deserve to be the best and that it’s no coincidence, he also made it clear that he and his teammates shouldn’t relax after reaching this position.
United have not won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season in 2012/13, and the club has suffered many disappointments since then.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to be putting the club on the right track again, so fans can be excited about the progress that is being made.
It could also be helpful to have a seasoned veteran like Matic on the roster at times like this, with the former Chelsea player giving a good assessment of the situation.
“We’ve played 17 games and we’re at the top of the table so that shows something,” Matic said after the game at Burnley, as quoted by Meter.
“We don’t play five or six games and we are at the top where you can say that it is luck.
“After 17 games, it is definitely not luck and there is definitely quality.
“But we cannot relax, we have to concentrate until the end to go game by game. The next is always the most important. “
