Some Liverpool fans are absolutely displeased with the team’s performance after they ‘bottled up’ many chances to beat Newcastle in tonight’s Premier League tie which ended in a goalless draw.
The Reds dominated the ball with 74% massive possession, but despite all that, they only had three more total shots than their opponents, in addition to having just two more shots on target than the Magpies.
It was a tough game that saw three of Jurgen Klopp’s men marked in yellow. Overall, the team’s rare lack of clinical completion cost them three points tonight, with all due respect to Newcastle’s valiant effort.
The chance of the game fell to Roberto Firmino, the Brazilian somehow missed the back of the net from just a couple of yards when headed a free header off an open arc deflected from the post.
Thiago Alcantara was one of the few positives for the reigning Premier League champions on the night, the ace came back from injury in the 73rd minute and showed his quality of play with attack intent.
Here’s how some of the Liverpool faithful have reacted to the team’s performance:
Too many points lost, in my opinion the league has slipped. United will match us on points with their game in hand. Shocking against the worst teams in the league

Salah didn’t even bother to try

We just passed the ball from side to side for 4 minutes of additional time. Good thing

You would have thought they were happy with a point

When we said last week that we wanted a better performance than West Brom, we were not referring to a clean sheet, but to goalless guys.

Only we are to blame. He had a good enough chance of winning. He bottled them all.

Absolutely vile performance, especially from front 3. What a horrible way to end a year that has been so brilliant for us. Know or face more embarrassment this season, guys. Embarrassing. Shameful.

Mohamed Salah also couldn’t hit the back of the net after a couple of pretty clear chances, the Reds dominated but it really didn’t look like they were going to score unless it was a stroke of luck due to his spike.
With tonight’s share of loot after another frustrating draw against West Bromwich Albion, the Reds are now three points clear at the top of the table.
Heated rivals Manchester United could equal the Anfield team’s points tally if they won their match in hand, provided it is played.
Fortunately, Liverpool have the best man in the world at the helm after two disappointing results at Jurgen Klopp, the German can certainly make the Reds ruthless again.
