With Deshaun Watson on his way to the Cleveland Browns, all eyes are on Baker Mayfield to see when he’s traded.
The breaking news that Deshaun Watson has not only been traded to the Cleveland Browns, but has also signed a monster new contract means that Baker Mayfield’s days with the team are no longer. The veteran signal caller had also requested a trade earlier in the week.
Going forward, both the Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks are two teams that stand out. However, it will be easier said than done for the Browns to complete a trade in the near future.
The Browns hope to replace Baker Mayfield as soon as possible
There has been a lot of drama surrounding Mayfield and the Browns in recent weeks. When it was made known that Cleveland was looking to try to trade for Watson, Mayfield was understandably not happy.
He thought he had the trust of the organization to lead this team forward, but they decided that Watson was their guy. Originally, it was reported that Watson had eliminated the Browns from battle to land him, but a last-minute change occurred.
For Mayfield, it has been reported that he prefers a switch to the Colts over the Seahawks. Seattle have just traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. For now, it looks like Drew Lock will be their QB going forward, but Mayfield would definitely be a step up.
The Colts themselves switched Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders as that pairing did not train at all. Soon enough, everyone will find out where Mayfield will play in 2022, but it’s pretty clear it’s not going to happen in Cleveland. The Browns also need to be creative in trying to make a deal.
