Competition: National League

Market: Stockport victory

Possibilities: 3/4 @ 888sport

Looking to extend their tenure in the play-off spots Tuesday night, Stockport will welcome a struggling Eastleigh at Edgeley Park midweek.

Starting with the hosts, after losing a two-goal lead at home to other play-off pursuers Altrincham over the weekend, Stockport will be desperate to get back on the winning track midweek. Finally having to settle for a point in Greater Manchester on Saturday afternoon, Jim Gannon’s men have still managed to bounce back from that hard-hitting loss to Hartlepool last month. Knowing that victory Tuesday night could shoot them up to second in the National League table, Stockport has also continued to impress with its extended undefeated streak at home. In addition to winning an FA Cup showdown against Premier League West Ham next week, the Hatters are unbeaten in their last five straight games at Edgeley Park, winning four of those appearances.

As for the visitors, who also blew the lead at the end of the weekend in Weymouth, Eastleigh is in the midst of a really slow streak. Despite opening the 2020/2021 campaign in hugely impressive fashion, the Hampshire team has certainly come back down to earth. Moving away from play-off positions and now struggling in the bottom half of the National League table, the Blues have failed to win any of their last six matchups across all formats, a streak dating back to December 1. With their recent woes highlighted by a 4-3 and 3-1 straight loss at the hands of Wealdstone and Halifax last month, it should also be noted that Eastleigh has failed to win any of their last four straight away from Silverlake Stadium. With Stockport notching a 2-0 win the last time the two sides met, we are backing a similar result midweek.
