The New York Giants first round, Kadarius Toney, could be available in a trade, a source told ESPN.

The New York Daily News first reported that Toney may be traded by new GM Joe Schoen.

Toney was the 20th overall pick last year out of Florida. He had a rocky rookie season that included multiple injuries and situations, from carrying the wrong blocks to skipping the volunteer offseason program over to several positive COVID-19 tests that kept him off the field.

In 2021, Toney played in 10 games and caught 39 passes on 420 yards and no touchdowns.

The shoe has been firm since he was hired, exploring all possibilities. He mentioned that he was willing to listen to offers for just about anyone, including running back Saquon Barkley, on the NFL scout combination.

The first-year general manager has since said it was blown out of proportion. Schoen spoke to Barkley immediately afterwards and has since said he did not make any calls to swap the star back, even though he received some.

But Schoen said at the combination that he did not see Toney as a negotiable piece and expected that he would be on the team this season.

Toney has not been to volunteer training out of season or this past week’s minicamp. New coach Brian Daboll said Toney has still not received the team’s new playbook.

“Like I said, it’s a volunteer camp,” Daboll said Wednesday. “The guys who are here, we have to work with. The guys who are not, they’re going to miss some things. It’s voluntary for a reason. It’s the nature of the rules.

“I’ve had good conversations with KT, good conversations with some of the other guys. I’m encouraged where we are with our participation, what we’ve done. We want to keep working in the right direction.”

Toney was not the only player who did not participate in the minicamp.

“It’s voluntary,” Schoen said. “No one asked about the other guys who are not here. It’s life. Life happens.

“I’ve had good conversations with Kadarius. We’ve been in touch. In the end, it’s voluntary. That’s what it is.”
