Ole Gunnar Solskjaer promised that Manchester United will not allow Manchester City rivals to “get away” with the Premier League title.
Manchester’s two rivals occupy the top two places in the league table, but there is a large point difference between them.
After drawing 1-1 with West BromUnited are now seven points behind City, who also have a game in hand.
United clearly would have expected a better result against West Brom, threatened by relegation. However, they struggled after conceding to Mbaye Diagne in 90 seconds.
Solskjaer admitted that United were prepared for a quick start from their opponents and also downplayed complaints that the goal should have been disallowed for a foul.
He said Sky sports: “It is something that we knew would happen from the beginning, we knew that they would pressure us and throw some throw-ins. They put a cross on him and the boy finished well.
“As a former striker I would say it was a goal. But in a recent game, Harry [Maguire] he got on top of a defender and it wasn’t a goal.
“It’s just clarity and consistency. I’m not saying it’s a fault. “

United He finally returned to the game when Bruno Fernandes volleyed just before the break.
However, Solskjaer admitted that it was too late a stage to start.
He added: “The goal we score is the way we pressure them. Sometimes we went down the sides, but we had no one to touch them.
“One of these days we were not where we should have been.
“We should play better, but we had a difficult start. You have 90 minutes to make amends, but we didn’t get that momentum until the end of the first half. “
Solskjaer gives mixed messages on title race
In the end, it will look like two points lost for United, who were at the top of the table not long ago but have struggled for consistency ever since.
Solskjaer insists it was never expected to be in the title race, but despite the gap widening, he wants to prevent City from winning the league earlier than expected.
Said, “I said we shouldn’t talk about [in the title race]. A compliment to the guys who got into position that we are now.
“We will not let them [Manchester City] run away with him, we’ll play them soon. We are not giving it away early, no, we are not. “
