Kaizer Chiefs have sent midfielder Keletso Sifama to Maritzburg United on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 17-year-old arrives in KwaZulu-Natal after making just three appearances with Chiefs in all competitions this season.

In Maritzburg, he will meet former Amakhosi coach Ernst Middendorp, who delivered his Premier Soccer League debut against Polokwane City in August 2020.

Forward Keletso Sifama has moved to Maritzburg United on loan until the end of the 2020/21 season. We wish the young man all the best during his time at United, ”Chiefs announced the loan agreement.

Maritzburg also confirmed the arrival of the South African youth international.

“The club is delighted to welcome Keletso Sifama on loan from Kaizer Chiefs until the end of the season. Welcome to Team Of Choice, Keletso, ”said the club.

After Sifama struggled to dominate regular playing minutes at Chiefs, it remains to be seen if Middendorp will invest faith in the longest-playing teenager in Maritzburg’s fight against relegation.

The teen star will fight for a place in midfield against seasoned players such as Daylon Claasen, Daniel Morgan, Keagan Buchanan and Travis Graham, all regulars.

The Sifama acquisition underscored a busy day for Maritzburg, which was trying to beat the transfer deadline on Monday.

Hours earlier, the Team of Choice announced the hiring of right-back Dusan Stevic from FK Napredak Krusevac of the Serbian Super League on an 18-month contract.

During this transfer period, Maritzburg’s attempt to strengthen his team amid the relegation fight also saw him recently sign goalkeeper Marcelo Engelhardt from Eintracht Braunschweig, who is campaigning in the German 2. Bundesliga.

Engelhardt has already made two appearances for Maritzburg so far, one in a Premier Soccer League match and the other in a 2-1 Nedbank Cup win over Sekhukhune United.

The Team of Choice is second from the bottom with nine points in 15 games.

His number of points is the same as the Black Leopards in the basement who have played one game less.

Transfer deadline Sifama and Stevic could make their debut when Maritzburg host the Orlando Pirates in a league game on February 27.
