Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu on a long-term contract for a fee believed to be in the order of £ 19.75m. Pound and is subject to international approval.

The 22-year-old moves to the Emirates Stadium from Bologna and wears jersey No. 18 to Arsenal. Tomiyasu, which was called for by Tottenham earlier this summer, made his name with Belgian club Sint-Truiden.

After signing for Bologna, Tomiyasu has been an impressive Serie A star, having played 63 games in his two seasons with the Italians.

Technical Director Edu speaking to Arsenal’s official website, was delighted to bring in the defender.

“We are delighted to have signed Takehiro,” he said. “We’ve seen him for a while now. We are pleased that we have reached an agreement with Bologna. He is an important addition to our team. ”

Tomiyasu can play as a midfielder or as a right-back. And it seems that Mikel Arteta is also happy to land her husband.

“Takehiro is a strong defender with good experience in Serie A and internationally.

“He is a versatile defender with great defensive qualities, high technical ability and calm on the ball.

“He wants to be an important member of our squad. We look forward to Takehiro joining us when he returns from international service. ”

Bellerin secures transfer to Real Betis

Tomiyasu will compete for a place in an Arsenal defense, which waved goodbye on Tuesday night Hector Bellerin.

The longtime Spaniard has left the Gunners to join Real Betis on a season-long loan deal.

Bellerin spent the early stages of his youth career at the Barcelona Academy before joining the Gunners at the age of 16. He signed his first professional contract when he turned 17 in 2012.

Now 26, Bellerin has played 239 games for the Gunners and scored nine times. However, it appears that he has fallen into the pickaxe under Arteta and has been allowed to move on.

Betis announced signing Tuesday night after passing a doctor and with an entertaining tweet.

In a statement on their website, Arsenal said: “Everyone at Arsenal wishes Hector well in Spain.”
