Alan Shearer has said that Kai Havertz looks better in front of Chelsea instead of Romelu Lukaku, in the middle of the match between the pair.

Havertz and Lukaku arrived at Stamford Bridge for several years under different managers. While the former was a Frank Lampard signing in 2020, Lukaku arrived for a club record £ 97.5 million last summer. And both players are now fighting for the top spot on Thomas Tuchel’s team.

The hopes were high for Lukaku, who signed on the condition that he should prove that he had been wrong. chelsea‘s decision to let him be a deadly goal scorer elsewhere. However, the Belgian national team player has struggled to fit in – and openly admitted in December that Tuchel’s tactics are failing him.

As a result, German star Havertz has emerged as a more fluid player at the top, capable of playing a variety of positions.

And he has become the dominant force for Chelsea in the Premier League. Lukaku has meanwhile participated in the FA Cup and scored in the Blues’ quarterfinal win over Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Speaking further BBC Sportss coverage of the match [19/03, 19:11]former Premier League striker Shearer cast doubt on Lukaku.

“I said it before the game, I’m not sure the system Chelsea want to play actually suits him,” Shearer said. “Yes, the way he played [Inter] Milan he had someone next to him.

“His style of play, he certainly prefers it, and he definitely needs balls in the box.

“I said before the match that the two fullbacks were missing. I do not think it’s the right match to judge him on this season, I’m looking at a couple of the matches and it does not look like a comfortable situation for him on that team. “

Shearer added that Havertz looks better for Chelsea. The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals this season, including six in the Premier League.

“They were impressive tonight, but they look a better team at times when Havertz is in there and where he has the freedom to move around and go anywhere,” the expert said.

“Sometimes I feel like Lukaku is a bit reluctant to do those races.”

Havertz wins Lukaku, Chelsea match

Havertz has pitched the role under Tuchel in Chelsea’s Premier League campaign.

And he is in sensational shape in the top flight. He has scored four of his six goals in the last four games. He has also noted an assist in that time.

Lukaku is only one after Havertz’s Premier League numbers.

How many days has it been since each top club last won a major trophy?

However, the 28-year-old has made his name in the FA Cup. He has now netted in three of Chelsea’s four matches on his way to the semi-finals.

Although his goal will help Chelsea win the FA Cup, Lukaku’s biggest wish will probably be to make his mark on the club’s progress in the Premier League.
