Reaching the Copa del Rey semi-finals may not be “the most important night” for Real Betis, Manuel Pellegrini insists.
Betis booked their place in the last four with a 4-0 defeat by Real Sociedad at the Real Arena on Thursday, with Juanmi scoring a double before Willian Jose and Aitor Ruibal struck in the final stages.
Pellegrini’s team has scored four in each of their last three matches, with the victory over La Real being their biggest in the Copa against top-class opponents.
The Chilean was pleased that his team has improved to the quarter-finals last season, but urged his team to demand more, especially with none of Barcelona, Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the last four of this period .
“I’m very happy to be in the semi-finals of the Copa,” said Pellegrini.
“When you win, celebrate things with appropriate moderation. I do not think it is the most important evening to go to the semifinals. We must keep working.
“It is already an achievement compared to last season, where we were beaten on penalties in the quarterfinals.
“The dynamics are positive. We have scored four goals in each of the last three games and created chances, but the team has been consistent since January last year. ”

La Real boss Imanol Alguacil was frustrated by the decision to reject a goal in the first half by Adnan Januzaj for a questionable offside decision against Mikel Oyarzabal in the build-up.
Imanol also expressed his displeasure that Alexander Isak was mistakenly called offside moments before Juanmi scored his 16th goal in all competitions this season – the best move in a single campaign of his career.
“We did not play our best match, but someone has to explain what happened. Things happened off the field that did not help us at all and made a difference,” he said.
“I do not understand why Januzaj’s goal was not allowed. I think before their second goal, Isaac was not offside. It was clear.
“Betis deserved to win, but I would have liked to have been under normal and equal conditions. That was not the case today. ”
