The Tanzanian star scored the only goal that gave the hosts victory at Ulker Stadium on Thursday night.
Mbwana Samatta sent Fenerbahce to the Turkish Cup quarter-finals after they scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Kasimpasa.
Samatta separated the two teams with his 51st-minute goal that ended his nine-goal drought with Canarias Amarillas, since scoring a double against Fatih Karagumruk in a league game in October.
The Tanzanian striker was subsequently replaced in the 69th minute, while Senegal’s Papiss Cisse played the full length and compatriot Mame Thiam was introduced as a substitute in the 46th minute.
Thursday’s effort stretched Samatta’s tally to three goals after 12 appearances in all competitions since moving to Turkey on a one-season loan from Aston Villa in September.
Despite being one less man at the edge of full time, Fenerbahce held on to victory and will join Super Lig Istanbul rivals Basaksehir, Besiktas, Alanyasopor, Sivasspor, Konyaspor and Antalyaspor in the quarter-final stage.
The Yellow Canaries are now on a five game winning streak in all competitions and Samatta will aim to help them continue in good shape when they host Ankaragucu for their next league game on Monday.
The 28-year-old recently recovered from a knee injury that kept him out of action in December and returned to action in a league game against Kasimpasa earlier this year.
Fenerbahce are second in the Super Lig standings, tied at 35 points with leader Besiktas after 17 matches.
