In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, former Premier League forward Dean Windass has told West Brom’s new boss Sam Allardyce to pitch for one of his former players in the upcoming January transfer window.
The 66-year-old replaced Slaven Bilic last week on an 18-month contract and suffered an embarrassing 3-0 loss to archrival Aston Villa in his first game in charge on Sunday night.
He told reporters they will back him next month, and Windass has suggested that Everton outcast Yannick Bolasie could be one of those making the switch to Hawthorns.
The 31-year-old originally joined the Toffees in a £ 25 million Crystal Palace’s 2016 contract with Ronald Koeman, but would play more times for Allardyce than for the Dutchman.
Would you take Yannick Bolasie to West Brom?
He scored just once in 17 appearances, while 53% of his games at Everton have been under Big Sam, according to Transfer market.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo winger was not registered for his Premier League side this season and is expected to leave the club in January as Carlo Ancelotti. revealed in October.
And the former Hull shooter thinks he could end up in the Midlands …
He told FFC:
“Yes, rhythm in the wide areas.
“He has been Everton’s forgotten man, but yes [I’d take him].
“Listen, Sam will know, Sam will have in mind who he needs.”
Wide areas have been a problem issue for the Baggies this season.
Grady Diangana hasn’t been able to continue the form that helped lead them to Championship promotion last season, while Bilic often went to a five to mask his lack of confidence in a true right winger, nor did Matty Phillips, Kamil Grosicki or Kyle Edwards could make that point.
Bolasie could somehow solve the problem in the short term as he has vast experience in the Premier League after having made 119 appearances in his senior career.
Although the £ 70k per week The Toffees misfit would come in with a lot of fitness concerns given that he hasn’t played a competitive game this season.
Bolasie’s last appearance in the senior category was in Sporting Lisbon’s 4-1 win in Istanbul in the Europa League in February.
