According to Foot MercatoTottenham Hotspur manager José Mourinho is a huge fan of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic and hopes to get him on loan before the end of the January transfer window.
The 31-year-old won the Bundesliga and the Champions League with Bayern Munich last season while on loan for the German team, scoring seven times and assisting six goals in both competitions.
Perisic has scored twice and assisted twice in 21 games for Inter this term, but has only started 11 of those games.
While the Croatian international has 18 months left on his current contract at the San Siro, an exit is not ruled out, and Foot Mercato claims Discussions are underway between Spurs and their representatives about a transfer to the North London club this winter.
Mourinho was eager to sign Perisic while at Manchester United, and could finally land his man in the next few days if talks go well.
The Portuguese is not short of options on the wings, but the Inter man brings experience and quality shooting skills to the table.
With Gareth Bale unimpressed since returning from Real Madrid in the summer, landing another winger won’t be a bad thing for Spurs, and Perisic could help increase his chances of winning the silver medal and competing for the top four.
Tottenham have relied heavily on Harry Kane and Heung-min Son for goals this period, and they could use another quality attacker to help ease the duo’s burden as we head into the second half of 2020-21.
Mourinho’s team would have won their Premier League clash against Liverpool if Steven Bergwijn had been one of the best.
However, the Dutch international squandered two good chances that proved costly in the end.
The Spurs will get a proven finisher on Perisic, and he’s also a hard-working attacker suited to Mourinho’s style of play.
