Tottenham suffered their fourth Premier League defeat in their last five games at the hands of Manchester City on Saturday, with 17 points now separating them from the leaders.

They were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Everton on Wednesday following a 5-4 loss and could miss a top four result for the second consecutive season.

Mourinho has been under pressure given recent results, but he has the support of one of Tottenham’s key players from a point of view of things, and that definitely comes in handy.

He has been in charge since November 2019, and his contract does not expire until the summer of 2023, But the deal does not include a break-up clause and he would be entitled to a significant payment if they decided to part ways with him.

That doesn’t seem like an option at the moment despite the team’s recent struggles, and we’ll have to wait until the end of the campaign to see what happens.

Spurs will face Man City in the League Cup final in April, and ending the campaign with silverware is sure to win some favors for Mourinho.

Winning the Europa League will see the North Londoners automatically qualify for next season’s Champions League, and while they are not favorites, they cannot be ruled out of the race entirely.

However, ending the season without silverware and not qualifying for Europe next season could prove costly for Spurs, as it could force some of their stars to look for a way out.

Attracting quality players in the summer transfer window could also prove Herculean, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the months ahead.

In other news, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are keeping an eye on Aston Villa central defender Ezri Konsa.
