Competition: League 1
Market: Rennes win
Possibilities: 11/10 @ 888sport
Simply looking to pick up where they left off before the holiday break, Rennes will make the journey to a struggling Nantes on Wednesday night when Ligue 1 marks its return.
Starting with the hosts, while Nantes might have surprised many when they opened the 2020/2021 campaign with striking displays against Bordeaux and Nimes, Raymond Domenech’s men have certainly fallen again. Heading into France’s holiday break amid what was a hugely worrying streak, the Yellows were last seen taking a hit 3-0 in Lyon. Now looking firmly over his shoulder and knowing they could finish Wednesday’s games sitting in the relegation tiebreaker spot, the former France manager has seen his side win none of their last eight Ligue 1 games in the Rebound, a streak dating back to November 8. Showing a number of problems at the rear, Domenech will have a real headache from the widespread problems of his team at home. Winning none of their last five consecutive meetings at La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau, Nantes should face a tough return to action midweek.
As for the visitors, while Rennes could have found themselves in the middle of a dismal two-month streak between October and early December, the European team have come back in style. Although his terrible streak last year may have caused some to start questioning Julien Stephan’s position at Roazhon Park, Les Rennais should now find the mood in their camp at a really high level. Finding a route back to the top four when they return to action Wednesday night, Rennes was last seen heading into the holiday break with a 1-0 win against Metz at home. In fact, including back-to-back wins against Nice and Marseille last month, the midweek guests have won each of their last four Ligue 1 games on the rebound and appear to have taken a real turn. With a 3-2 win when they faced Nantes last season, we backed a similar away win on Wednesday.
Bet: Rennes 11/10 beats Nantes in Ligue 1 showdown on Wednesday @ 888 sport
