In the 42nd minute of Liverpool’s Premier League draw against Wolves tonight, Craig Pawson pointed the spot after it appeared Sadio Mane knocked down Conor Coady.
Liverpool academy graduate Coady, who gave the Reds the first goal on an error, fell after Mane tried to clear the ball with a very bold overhead kick into his own box.
The VAR reviewed the incident, with Pawson turning to the courtside monitor to take a closer look, replays showed that Mane actually pulled his leg away after his acrobatic effort.
Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg said Prime Video Sport that this incident did not warrant a ‘penalty’ at all, praising Pawson for using technology to overturn the initial ‘wrong decision’.

Pawson deserves credit for making the right decision by reversing his initial decision and also for making correct use of the revolutionary VAR technology.
