The two veterans joined Mallory Pugh as World Cup winners who are back with the national team for the first time since March.

Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd have been included in the 27-player training camp roster for the United States national team for January.

Both players have been out of the USWNT since March last year, missing both the October training camp and the November friendly against the Netherlands.

USWNT head coach Vlatko Andonovski will reduce his roster to 18-man teams for two friendly matches against Colombia at the end of January camp, which will take place in Orlando.

The United States will face Colombia on January 18 and 22, with both games taking place at Exploria Stadium in Orlando. Fans will be allowed to enter both games with a reduced capacity of 4,000.

Also returning is Mallory Pugh, who was eliminated from the Olympic qualifying list last January before an injury knocked her out in October and November.

Alex Morgan was not included on the list after the forward announced Tuesday that she and her family had tested positive for Covid-19 during the holidays.

Manchester United duo Christen Press and Tobin Heath also missed. Press is currently recovering from a non-Covid illness, while Heath has chosen to remain in Manchester to compete in his team’s Women’s Super League matches.

“A great credit goes to our players, team staff and medical staff in general for the tremendous work to ensure that we have safe and healthy environments for our camps and games,” Andonovski said in a liberation from the federation.

“And a special thank you also to our gaming operations staff for allowing us to host two games against a talented opponent. It is extremely valuable to play against a team that we do not see so often and it is important for our Olympic preparation ”.
