Everton confirmed the signing of Salomon Rondon yesterday just at the end of the transfer deadline day.

The former Newcastle striker arrived from Chinese club Dalian Professional on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract with an option for a third season.

The Venezuelan forward has reunited with Rafael Benítez for the third time, having previously worked with him in Newcastle and Dalian.

The 31-year-old center forward is a highly experienced player who has 83 caps and a national team record of 31 goals for his country.

Benitez has taken to Twitter to welcome Rondon after his move to Goodison Park.

This has been a very interesting summer transfer window for Everton.

The Toffees have operated on a tight budget, and Benitez has spent paltry fees to secure players like Rondon, Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray.

Rondon’s signing on a free transfer may not seem like an attractive addition, but it could prove to be a very effective purchase of the Toffees.

After Moise Kean was transferred to Juventus, Everton urgently needed a striker to cover Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Everton have players like Cenk Tosun and Richarlison as other options, but Rondon would take the goals aside. For Newcastle, he managed 11 goals and seven assists in 32 Premier League appearances.

If you can produce a similar result, the transfer will look like a massive success.
