The games were part of matchday seven actions played across various fields as the competition picks up speed.
Police FC eliminated BUL FC after winning 2-0 in a Ugandan Premier League tie in Lugogo to top the table on Tuesday.
Johnson Odong scored and helped Brian Mululi to second for the Cops after another solid performance that gave them the second straight win after the previous 3-1 over Kyetume FC.
Abdalla Mubiru’s team would have earned a great victory if they had taken advantage of their chances, especially in the first half. Both Odong, who scored in the previous game, and Mululi saw their chances expand as the cops dominated the process.
At halftime, Abdallah Mubiru made two substitutions when Herman Waasswa and Duncan Sseninde replaced Reuben Kimera and Muwadda Mawejje. The changes reinvigorated the Police who pinned BUL in their own area with new players taking on vital roles to push opponents.
Meanwhile, Mbarara City claimed their first win of the season when Solomon Okwalinga scored to condemn Premier League debutants Kitara FC to a 1-0 win.
Mbarara had drawn in three previous matches and lost three before taking on the rookies on Tuesday. Okwalinga scored the only goal of the game after Ssemugabi scored it in the fifth minute.
The top scorer, however, was injured shortly after and Ivorian international Chato Bamba made his debut in his inning.
Kitara, who is yet to win a single game, came close to scoring a goal in the 18th minute, but Edson Agondeze saw his effort drift from a good position. The star missed another opportunity just as the first half was about to end.
With no more goals scored after the break, the Ankole Lions moved to thirteenth with six points, while Kitara remains at the bottom with one point after participating in seven games.
Finally, Busoga United and Bright Stars shared points after a 1-1 draw. Paul Ssekulima scored for the home team after just four minutes, but the visitors struggled and drew a minute later through Jamil Nvule.
Busoga United will now have to look for their first win of the current campaign when they play Mbarara City, while Bright Stars will play rookies UPDF FC.
