We are now barely past the quarter mark of the Premier League season, which is as good a time as any to take stock as the table begins to take shape.
Most teams in the league have played 10 games already and while things can still get pretty weird and unexpected, West Ham and Southampton in fifth and sixth place, we’re looking at you, outstanding individuals are emerging.
Here’s a look at all the different metrics so far this season to see who stands out in which area. All stats come through Who scored Unless otherwise specified, always discounting players who have played less than 200 minutes.
Having played every minute in the Premier League so far this season, Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has played the most passes of any player in the league with 752 in total.
But Chelsea’s Thiago Silva passes at a more prolific pace, averaging 103.1 passes per 90 minutes. The Brazilian is also the first in terms of average completions, along with Ruben Dias of Man City with 93.2%.
Unsurprisingly, Manchester City’s king of assists Kevin De Bruyne tops the list in terms of key passes (the final pass before a teammate shoots on goal) with 3.6 per 90 minutes.

The same labyrinthine dribblers who caused so much trouble for opposing defenses last season hold the same standards in 2020-21.
Adama Traore tops the list with 5.9 successful dribbles every 90 minutes, followed by Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin (4.4 for 90), Fulham’s Ademola Lookman (3.8) and André-Frank Zambo Anguissa (3.7) with Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish fifth (3.2).
Grealish set new Premier League records for fouls won last season, but this season his old childhood friend James Maddison of Leicester City only surpasses him in that regard, averaging 4.6 fouls won per 90 compared to 4.4 for the talisman. of Villa.
Southampton’s Oriol Romeu has won 37 tackles so far in 2020-21, the most of any Premier League player. Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante is at the top of the interception charts, 28 in total.
Sheffield United’s Max Lowe hasn’t racked up that many minutes, but of the players they’ve made in the past five appearances, he’s the one averaging the most at 4.9 per 90 minutes.
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba commits the most fouls every 90 minutes (4.1), while Leeds United’s Mateusz Klich has the most total (23).

Leeds striker Patrick Bamford leads the total shooting charts (40), one more than Harry Kane, while Bruno Fernandes has tried his luck from outside the box more often with 18 long-range attempts.
Top scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin evidently has a keen eye for poaching, having managed to get the most shots (nine) from within the six-yard box, one more than Kane.
Bamford also leads the league in expected non-penalized individual goals (xpxG – via Stat bomb) – 7.2. Unlike last season in the Championship, he is on par in terms of his actual goals scored – seven.
