Leeds United United winger Raphinha has sent a moving tribute to Ronaldinho’s mother after the Whites beat Southampton 3-0 at Elland Road.

Raphinha scored the third goal of the match with a spectacular free kick and then took out the message written on his shirt.

The message reads: “Much strength for the Assis Moreira Family. Rest in Peace Doña Miguelina ”.

Doña Miguelina Eloi Assis dos Santos was the name of Ronaldinho’s mother. He recently died of Covid.

Raphinha He was shown a yellow card for removing his shirt to reveal a shirt with a message in Portuguese. He didn’t mind one bit as it was intentional on his part to spread the word.

Leeds returned to winning ways at Elland Road with goals from Patrick Bamford, Stuart Dallas and Raphinha.

Bamford scored his thirteenth goal of the season. However, it was a superb free-kick from Raphinha that sealed the three points for Marcelo Bielsa’s team.

The loss means that Southampton are now winless in their last eight Premier League matches.
