Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had nothing but praise for rookie wide receiver Justyn Ross.

The Kansas City Chiefs offense is going to look a little different with wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Byron Pringle no longer on the team. They addressed the position through both the free agency and the draft, such as JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore. But there is a pass-catcher who has caught the attention of Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Speaking to the media, Mahomes garnered praise for the unsuccessful free agent and former Clemson Tigers star Justyn Ross, saying he “can only imagine how good he will become because of the talent he possesses.”

Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes has high praise for rookie wide receiver Justyn Ross

This is not the only time Mahomes has been impressed by Ross. During OTA’s Wednesday, the team’s official Twitter account posted a video of Ross making an impressive sideline catch. Mahomes could not help but express his disbelief that the rookie was behaving as if the catch he was getting was normal.

Ross was Clemson’s best chance in their passing offense and looked like a good pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. But in 2020, Ross underwent surgery for a congenital fusion in his spine. He was able to play 10 games the most recent college football season, but still went without a draft this year.

During his three seasons he played at Clemson, Ross caught 158 passes for 2,379 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Ross is looking to get on the team, and so far he has spotted the team’s starting quarterback.
