Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes added another layer of hype to the impressive highlight grab new receiver Justyn Ross made on the OTAs.
Justyn Ross went from one of college football’s greatest talents to an exhausted free agent, largely due to a devastating injury that put his playing career at risk.
Ross worked his way back from an injury to compete for Clemson against the odds. He is now in the first phase of proving that he deserved to be selected in the draft by making a name for himself at Chiefs.
He also wastes no time and produces a captivating highlight with a one-handed catch during OTAs.
Patrick Mahomes is hyped over Justyn Ross’ catch on OTAs
The catch was so impressive that it caught Patrick Mahome’s attention.
“The craziest thing about this was that the guy behaved as if it was normal after he caught it,” Mahomes tweeted.
Each year, the harvest of free agents produces a few diamonds, and Ross has every chance of becoming one of them this year.
He starred as a rookie at Clemson in 2018 with 1,000 yards received. He had an amazing performance against Alabama in the national championship game when the Tigers drove Alabama.
After a strong sophomore campaign, Ross was considered one of the best recipients in the country on his way into the 2020 season when it was discovered that he had a congenital fusion condition in his neck and spine. He missed the campaign and had a long way to go before returning in 2021 to catch 47 passes at 524 yards.
Ross’ talent can make him the biggest UDFA pickup of the bunch. OTAs are just the beginning, especially as Kansas City is rebuilding their receiving corps after swapping Tyreek Hill away and letting several others go free.
