Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes reveals that his worst playoff football game was played against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship.

Patrick Mahomes has led the Kansas City Chiefs all the way to the AFC Championship since 2018, a statistic that illustrates his AFC dominance.

But the Chiefs did not advance to the Super Bowl in either of these seasons: In 2018 and 2021, Kansas City lost the conference and saw their opponent advance to the big game.

The Mahomes played an incredible game against the New England Patriots, which ended in a close overtime loss, but their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in January is something that still bothers the announced Chiefs quarterback.

Mahomes is not the only one who thinks KC could have won that match: Arrowhead Addict described the 27-24 loss as a “complete meltdown.”

After the Chiefs took an early lead in the first half, the team failed to score in the red zone on a first-and-goal before the break. This is how the second half, which Mahomes alluded to:

Joe Burrow and the Bengals were able to make a miraculous 21-3 comeback, almost in the same way that Mahomes has done throughout his NFL career. Unfortunately, Mahomes watched as the opposing team achieved the impossible while the Chiefs languished.

Understandably, this is something that still haunts Mahomes, especially as that match shattered Super Bowl dreams after a deflationary loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

Patrick Mahomes believes Bengal’s playoff loss was his “worst playoff football”

Ironically, Mahomes ‘comments were made the same day that Chiefs podcaster Taylor Witt shared some tracks that make fans revel in Mahomes’ magic in the second half.

Witt dug into some impressive statistics that conclude that the Mahomes are least likely to be down in three quarters and most likely to come back in the fourth.

The Bengals game may not have been Mahomes’ best game, but the iconic Chiefs quarterback is still building a legacy that will go down as one of the greatest in NFL history.
