Athletic They’ve provided an update on the situation at Crystal Palace, and it’s a mixed bag for Roy Hodgson’s men.

Palace is in a familiar position under Hodgson’s leadership, free from the relegation battle but with little hope of going much further.

Eagles loyalists will probably have no complaints with that, as Palace has established itself as regulars in the English top flight, which has not always been the case.

Athletic’s report that Palace defender Mamadou Sakho, former PSG and Liverpool player of course, testimony to how far the club has come, is ready to spend some time on the sidelines.

While they are unlikely to see them dragged into a late-table dogfight as he has already missed three months of the season, it appears that he will not be available for selection for some time.

Athletic do note, however, that Nathaniel Clyne is close to extending his initial short-term contract with the club, which would bolster Palace’s defensive options, having lost a defender at Sakho.
