Newcastle are back in the hunt to sign Torino star Andrea Belotti after showing interest in the January transfer window, it is claimed.
Newcastle are said to have made an offer in January, but did not succeed. But they have maintained their interest in the striker and a new bid could happen. However, there is no lack of interest and the Magpies are facing a battle.
The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season. The chances of him staying with Turin look small and the clubs form an orderly queue. TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Newcastle are among them.
Newcastle are aiming for a new striker
Eddie Howe will have a big transfer budget for the summer, but free agents will still appeal. Especially those with the quality and experience of Belotti.
The Italian national team player has played over 200 Serie A matches for Turin. He has also scored 97 league goals, so it’s no surprise that rival interest is hot.
Newcastle first made a switch back in January. At the time, it was suggested that they offer him a deal worth £ 6.6m. year. Belotti dismissed it as he was not in a hurry to decide his next move. But now a decision is imminent.
Belotti is also attractive interest from Tottenham and West Ham. It has been suggested that the Italian connection at Spurs could bring them into pole position. Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are in the club and that could affect Belotti.
Spurs need back-up to Harry Kane and they see Belotti as the ideal signing. West Ham also have a new striker high on the wanted list.
However, there is a chance that all Premier League clubs will miss it. The striker has opportunities to stay in Italy and may prefer to stay in Serie A.
Milan dream movement
In fact, reports have claimed that AC Milan is his dream club and he is holding out for the San Siro. Milan rivals Inter are also keen on AS Roma, Fiorentina and Atalanta.
Belotti has not yet made a decision on his next move, or at least officially announced it. Turin’s president, Urbano Cairo, believes an agreement may have already been reached. But he is in the dark like everyone else.
“Belotti is expiring. He may have already signed with someone. Let’s say he was free to sign from February 1, theoretically he could have done that too. Disappointed? I’m not talking about this issue anymore,” he said. Cairo to TuttoMercatoWeb.
