Nathan Patterson looks set to become an Everton player immediately after making an improved offer to Rangers, according to several sources.

Patterson was the subject of intense interest from Everton over the summer. They made several bids for the right-back, but none succeeded. Rangers have held out for a higher sum and may be about to get their wish fulfilled.

Various reports are emerging claiming that Everton have made a new offer on Patterson. This time, they have raised the stakes. In fact, if accepted, Patterson would become Rangers’ record sales.

Sky Sports say the fee would be up to £ 16m, split into an initial payment of £ 12m. and a further £ 4m. in addition.

Tea Liverpool Echo had earlier on Sunday reported that a deal is “close” and that finding a replacement for captain Seamus Coleman at right back had become a “priority” for the club.

Takes things further, The sun has claimed that a fee has actually been “agreed” between Everton and Rangers. They also back it up to well over £ 10m. by using the same numbers as Sky. Confirmation of the transfer may come “in the next few days”.

Patterson would be Everton’s second signing of the January transfer window. The first was another fullback; Vitaliy Mykolenko arrived on the opposite side of the defense.

Coleman, however, had to replace left Everton’s loss to Brighton on Sunday. Jonjoe Kenny took his place on the field.

But Rafael Benitez has been looking for an upgrade and now has Patterson stuck in the binoculars.

The 20-year-old has only made two starts in the Scottish Premier League so far this season. The latest came on December 18 in a win over Dundee United. Patterson is struggling to remove captain James Tavernier from the starting spot at right back.

His contract with Rangers runs until May 2024, after he signed a new deal 12 months ago. However, Everton seem to be catching him long before then.

Gerrard will fight Benitez for the next transfer after Nathan Patterson

Everton may not be finished either after the potential addition of Patterson.

According to The sun, Everton are interested in Burnley winger Dwight McNeil – but so is Patterson’s former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard for Aston Villa.

While the Clarets are said to be open to discussions, they have put the £ 40 million price tag on McNeil as that is how high he is considered.

January is former Liverpool captain Gerrard’s first transfer window in charge of his new team, but McNeil has been on their radar since last summer.

They were reportedly preparing for a move at the time. However, they sprayed the money on alternative attack reinforcements.

Benitez’s side also lined him up in the previous window. However, they also made various transfer decisions.

Crystal Palace seems to be a new name in the fight. The report notes that they would have to sell Wilfried Zaha to fund a move.

Therefore, it appears that Villa and Everton are the most likely of the trio that Burnley expect to bid from.
