A viral clip of Tottenham Hotspur’s critically acclaimed documentary ‘All or nothing’ has surfaced on Amazon Prime that nailed Serge Aurier long before today’s mistake.
Aurier recklessly dropped Leicester defender Wesley Fofana just on the brink of halftime, referee Craig Pawson reviewed the incident on the courtside VAR monitor before marking the spot.
The right-back error gave the Foxes a penalty that Jamie Vardy certainly wasn’t going to waste, leading Brendan Rodgers’ team on their way to a 2-0 victory.
Fofana, Leicester’s big money summer recruit, was clearly drifting away from the area, making Aurier’s decision even more questionable, as noted by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Roy Keane.
Now a clip of the documentary of the team from last season has come out again, in which José Mourinho made it clear to the Ivorian that he was ‘afraid’ of his challenges like this, since the VAR watches closely.

It’s hard not to think about this with Mourinho from “All or nothing” when you see Aurier take that penalty. pic.twitter.com/Qepg8SrCEQ

Here is a transcript of what was said:
“You speak English well?” (Aurier indicates yes)
“I am afraid of you as a marker, because you are capable of taking a penalty (expletive) with the VAR, so I am telling you that I am afraid of you.”
Aurier has started eight of the North London team’s 14 Premier League games this season, was substituted in the 64th minute after his shaky performance.
It’s a shame moments like this overshadow some of the solid work the former Paris Saint-Germain star has done this season, but that’s football.
With the Spurs following last weekend’s draw against Crystal Palace with back-to-back losses to Liverpool and Leicester, their early appearance as title contenders is in danger of derailing.
