The Nigerian international and Mali’s left-back stood out to help the Canaries avoid defeat at the Stade de la Beaujoire
Moses Simon impressed as Charles Traore found the back of the net when Nantes drew 1-1 against Angers in Sunday’s Ligue 1 game.
The Nigerian international had his 11th league start to the season and helped Patrick Collot’s men avoid a second straight loss after losing to Reims last time.
Simon formed a three-man attack along with Renaud Emond and Ludovic Blas, and gave a good account of himself.
Traore also started the match in the left-back position and scored his first goal of the season for the Canaries.
The game started with both sides aiming to tease each other and Romain Thomas broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute after Thomas Mangani set him up to give Angers the lead.
With the game looking to end in favor of Stade Raymond Kopa’s team, Traore then scored a crucial tie in the death to salvage a point for his team.
The draw took Canarias to 15th place in the Ligue 1 table after accumulating 15 points in 16 games.
Simon made two shots in the game, had 41 touches and had a 71 percent successful passing rate during his 90 minutes of action.
The Super Eagles winger has made 13 league appearances for the Stade de la Beaujoire team this season, scoring two goals and providing an assist.
Traore also participated during the game alongside Algerian international Mehdi Abeid, while Mali’s Lassana Coulibaly, Ivory Coast internationals Abdoulaye Bamba and Ismael Traore paraded through Angers throughout the match.
Simon partnered with Nantes in 2019 from Spanish club Levante, initially on loan before the deal became permanent this summer following his eye-catching performances for his team.
The forward along with Traore hope to help the Canaries end their seven-match winless streak when they face Lyon in their next league game on 23 December.
Nantes finished in the middle of the table last season and hopes to improve their performance in the 2020-21 season.
