Liverpool need to act quickly in relation to a new contract for Mohamed Salah or risk Paris Saint-Germain coming in for him, an expert has said.

The Reds have successfully tied a number of key stars in recent months. In fact, goalkeeper Alisson and defenders Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have committed their future to Anfield.

Further on, Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson have meanwhile extended their terms.

But up front is where Liverpool lack progress in terms of new contracts. Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino’s contracts all expire in 2023 and it is still unclear whether they will renew.

Despite the fact that all three agreements expire at the same time, Salah’s situation has been at the center. He has scored 23 goals in 26 games this season, and therefore puts himself in the debate about who is the best player in the world at the moment.

The Egyptian national team player said this in October he will renew and can – at present – not see himself playing in any club other than Liverpool.

But Salah also admitted that his renewal is entirely in the hands of Liverpool bosses. According to Kevin Campbell, the Reds need to get started or risk PSG making a move for him this summer.

“Salah could be at the top of the list [for PSG], “said the expert Football Insider. “It’s a real possibility.

“The negotiations are taking too long in Liverpool. They are giving other teams an opportunity to focus on him. They are opening the door. It needs to be sorted out as soon as possible.

“PSG will be interested in someone who can score the amount Salah does, 100 percent. Who would not be?

“PSG will have to replace [Kylian] Mbappe’s goal if he is to go away. There are not many in the world who could do that, but Salah is certainly one of them. “

French national team player Mbappe, 23, is in the last six months of his PSG deal and has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Liverpool opportunities amid doubts about Salah

Although Salah, Mane and Firmino will sign new contracts, they will all be 30 by next summer. As such, the search will continue for younger opportunities at Anfield.

Diogo Jota, 25, represents the long-term future of the Reds’ attack, and he continues to flourish under Jurgen Klopp.

As for new signings at the top, however, reports have claimed that Liverpool are after Porto’s Luis Diaz.

In fact, the Reds are reportedly close to a deal just under £ 60 million for the Colombian national team player.
