Mikel Arteta has been told by Ian Wright that he will sign a player destined to enjoy an “incredible career” if the Arsenal boss follows up with a transfer interest in a talented playmaker.
The Gunners are enjoying a fantastic season under the Spaniard’s leadership. Arsenal are currently nicely in fourth place after Arteta’s young team – with the core of their team under 25 – revel in his leadership. In fact, North London currently enjoys a three-point buffer at Tottenham in fifth place and also has a match in hand.
Finishing in the Champions League places would represent an excellent season for Arsenal. The around £ 120 million they spent last summer was called into question, especially after losing their first three games of the campaign.
But people like Ben White, Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale – to name a few – have all been in good shape this season. And despite Piers Morgan recently threw a tantrum over the sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Arsenal have got most things right on the transfer front.
As such, the planning of the summer window is well underway. At the top of their wish list will be at least one new striker. In fact, with Eddie Nketiah and possibly Alexandre Lacazette on their way to travel, Arsenal need more options.
However, the Gunners boss is also looking to add more quality to his midfield areas. He has been linked with a move to Philippe Coutinho, where the Brazilian has spotted a loan at Aston Villa.
A more affordable option, however, is clearly Michael Olise.
The Crystal Palace playmaker has enjoyed an impressive first season as a regular in the Premier League.
After moving a switch of £ 8.75m. from Reading, Olise has hit the ground running. He actually thrives under Patrick Vieira’s leadership and so far has four goals and nine assists.
As such, it’s easy to see why Arsenal reportedly want to reunite Olise with a Gunners star, whom he regularly met as a child.
Any such deal would now cost the Gunners over £ 20m.
Ian Wright is a big fan of Olise
That said, former Gunners striker Wright has seen first-hand what Olise is capable of.
And while he does not want to see Palace lose a budding talent, he understands exactly why Arsenal are fans.
“When you see what Zaha brings to the team, is Wilf what 29 now? Here you are talking about a young man who has a huge future,” Wright said ITV Sport.
“When you look at what he does in the last third. Go and do what you want. He will be someone who will do incredible things.
‘He has just been called up to U21 in France. But he deserves it. “
Olise’s ability to carry the ball and open up for play would certainly follow Arsenal’s style; hence Arteta’s interest.
The player is also at the center of an international battle with three countries all fighting for his services.
