Greatest takeaway
The nation will get a good look at the Miami Dolphins. They get two primetime games and a showdown Christmas Day with the Green Bay Packers. It’s also a brutal stretch to start the season with the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers all on the schedule for the first seven weeks of the season.
revenge game
Week 3 against the bills. The Dolphins were embarrassingly swept away by Buffalo last season, and this September 25 match is their first chance to beat the reigning AFC East champion in what should be a benchmark for coach Mike McDaniel’s team.
What the odds makers think
They have the Dolphins’ total victory of 8.5. On paper, there are seven games that Miami should win if it considers itself a playoff challenger – if it takes care of business in those games and pulls out a few swing games, Miami should manage 8.5.
Bold prediction:
The Dolphins start the season 8.-2. That stretch to start the season gets tough, but it’s also easy to win with matches. If McDaniel’s system works and Miami clicks early, it could start the season on a burning hot tone.
